Indications
- Use in adults and children over 12 years of age for effective relief from constipation
- Treatment of chronic constipation
- Treatment of fecal impaction
- Refractory constipation with fecal loading of the rectum and colon
Composition
- Polyethylene Glycol 3350: 13.125 gm
- Sodium Chloride: 350.7 mg
- Sodium Bicarbonate: 178.5 mg
- Potassium Chloride: 46.6 mg
Pharmacology
- Exerts an osmotic action in the gut
- Increases stool volume
- Triggers colon motility via neuromuscular pathways
- Facilitates the defecation
- Unabsorbed from the gastrointestinal tract
Dosage & Administration
- 1 sachet daily for constipation (may be increased to 2-3 sachets daily if required)
- 8 sachets daily for fecal impaction
- No dosage change for patients with renal insufficiency
- Each sachet should be dissolved in 125 ml water
- Oral solution added to 100 ml of water once daily
- 8 doses of 25 ml daily for fecal impaction (each 25 ml dose added to 100 ml of water)
Interaction
- Possibility of transiently reduced absorption of other medicinal products
- Decreased efficacy with some concomitantly administered medicinal products
Contraindications
- Intestinal perforation or obstruction
- Ileus
- Severe inflammatory conditions of the intestinal tract
- Toxic megacolon
- Hypersensitivity to the active substances

Pregnancy & Lactation
- No anticipated effects during pregnancy
- Can be used during pregnancy
- No anticipated effects on the breastfed newborn/infant

Precautions & Warnings
- For the treatment of fecal impaction, the dose should be divided to avoid excessive intake in any one hour
- Stop immediately if symptoms indicating shifts of fluid/electrolytes develop
- Prolonged use may lead to dependence
Overdose Effects
- Severe pain or distention can be treated by nasogastric aspiration
- Correction of electrolyte disturbances may be required for extensive fluid loss by diarrhea or vomiting
