Indications

Composition

  • Dried Aluminium Hydroxide Gel BP
  • Magnesium Hydroxide BP
  • Simethicone USP
  • Aluminium Oxide
  • Magnesium Hydroxide Paste USP

Pharmacology

  • Non-systemic acid neutralizing substances
  • Antiflatulent
  • Relief of ulcer by neutralizing gastric acid
  • Antifoam properties of simethicone
  • Relief of flatulence and meteorism
  • Physiologically inert and excreted unchanged in the feces

Dosage & Administration

  • 1-2 tablets 1-3 hours after meal and at bedtime
  • 1-2 teaspoonful 1-3 hours after meal and at bedtime

Interaction

  • May increase or decrease absorption of oral drugs
  • Decrease bioavailability of theophylline, tetracycline, quinolone antibiotics, etc.
  • Increase bioavailability of sulphonamides, levodopa, enteric coated aspirin, etc.

Contraindications

  • Renal failure
  • Hypophosphataemia
  • Severely debilitated patients
  • Alkalosis
  • Hypermagnesaemia
  • Abdominal distention due to partial or complete intestinal obstruction

Side Effects

  • Occasional gastrointestinal side effects
  • May cause diarrhea, constipation or regurgitation if excessive amount is consumed

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Avoid in the first trimester of pregnancy

  • Use with caution in patients with kidney disease
