Description
Clear and almost colorless sterile solution of Acme's Mannitol. Each 100 ml contains 20 g of Mannitol BP. Raises osmotic pressure of plasma, induces osmotic diuresis.
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose ranges from 50 to 100 gm by IV infusion
- Rate of administration adjusted to maintain urine flow of at least 30 to 50 ml/hr
- Total dosage, concentration, and rate depend on fluid requirement, urinary output, and severity of condition
- Specific dosage for renal insufficiency, cerebral edema, intracranial pressure, intraocular pressure, Glaucoma, and adjunctive therapy for removal of toxic substances
Contraindications
Not to be used in patients with pulmonary edema, congestive heart failure, inadequate urine flow, dehydration, acidosis, intracranial bleeding, or renal failure without diuretic response from test dose

Pregnancy & Lactation
Safety in pregnancy not established. Excretion in breast milk unknown; administer with careful risk-benefit consideration
Precautions & Warnings
- Careful monitoring of administration rate to avoid fluid and electrolyte imbalance
- Discontinue infusion if signs of progressive renal dysfunction, heart failure, or pulmonary congestion develop
- Do not administer with whole blood
- Monitor for rigor and discontinue infusion if it arises for any reason

Storage Conditions
Store at 20°C to 30°C. Exposure to lower temperatures may cause crystal deposition. Warm bottle in hot water if crystals form; cool to body temperature before use. Use open containers promptly; discard unused contents.
