Dosage and administration

  • Oral administration
  • Benign gastric ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks
  • Gastro-esophageal reflux disease: 20-40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks
  • Duodenal ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 2 weeks
  • Duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori: 40 mg twice daily in combination with antibiotics
  • Prophylaxis of NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcer: 20 mg daily
  • Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Initially 80 mg once daily adjusted according to response
  • IV Injection for various conditions

Interaction

  • No significant drug interactions observed in clinical studies

Contraindications

  • Patients with known hypersensitivity to any components of the formulation

Side effects

  • Common: Headache, Diarrhea
  • Rare: Abdominal pain, Flatulence, Rash, Insomnia, Hyperglycemia

Pregnancy and lactation

  • US FDA Pregnancy Category B
  • No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
  • Excreted in human milk
  • Decision to use during pregnancy should consider benefit to the mother

Precautions and warnings

  • Pantosa tablet should not be split, chewed or crushed
  • Long-term therapy may lead to malabsorption of Vitamin B12
  • Increased risk of osteoporosis related disorders

  • Highly protein bound and not readily dialyzable
