Potent anti-inflammatory steroid with greater potency than Prednisolone
Pharmacology
- Pharmacodynamic properties: Potent anti-inflammatory agent with immune system inhibition
- Pharmacokinetic properties: High oral bioavailability, rapid absorption, wide tissue distribution, metabolism in the liver, hemodialyzable
Dosage & Administration
- Usual range: 2-48 mg daily in divided doses
- Multiple Sclerosis treatment: 160 mg daily for a week followed by 64 mg every other day for 1 month
