Indications
- Peptic ulcer diseases
- Gastroesophageal reflux diseases
- Ulcer induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Eradication of Helicobacter pylori (in combination with antibiotics)
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Pharmacology
- Proton pump inhibitor
- Suppression of gastric acid production
- Covalently binding to H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system
- Inhibition of basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion
Dosage & Administration
- Oral administration
- 40 mg daily for benign gastric ulcer
- 20-40 mg daily for gastroesophageal reflux disease
- 40 mg daily for duodenal ulcer
- 40 mg twice daily for duodenal ulcer with Helicobacter pylori
- 20 mg daily for NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcer
- Initially 80 mg once daily for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
- Intravenous administration for various conditions
Interaction
- No significant drug interactions observed in clinical studies
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any components of the formulation
Side Effects
- Well tolerated in short-term and long-term treatment
- Common: headache, diarrhea
- Rare: abdominal pain, flatulence, rash, insomnia, hyperglycemia
