Description
G-G-Miconazole oral gel is indicated for the treatment of oral and gastrointestinal candidiasis, eradication of fungal colonization, treatment of infections due to gram-positive bacteria, and dermatomycoses such as tinea pedis, tinea corporis, tinea manuum, and tinea cruris. It possesses antifungal and antibacterial activities. The oral bioavailability is low, and it is primarily metabolized, with a terminal plasma half-life of 20-25 hours. The dosage varies for oropharyngeal and gastrointestinal candidosis, and early relief of symptoms is experienced within 2 to 3 days. Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient. Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and allergic reactions. No information is available regarding the safety of Miconazole oral gel during pregnancy, and caution is advised during lactation. Precautions are necessary when used concomitantly with anticoagulants and phenytoin. Accidental overdosage may cause vomiting and diarrhea. It belongs to the therapeutic class of aural anti-fungal preparations and should be stored in a dry place away from light and heat, out of the reach of children.
