Description
Topical treatment for inflamed dermatoses with infection by susceptible organisms and inflammation coexist.
Indications
- Treatment of inflamed dermatoses with infection by susceptible organisms and inflammation
- For moist or dry eczema or dermatitis
- Intertrigo and infected eczema
- Primary irritant or contact allergic eczema
- Seborrheic eczema including that associated with acne
- Inflammatory interigo
- Perianal and genital dermatitis
Pharmacology
- Miconazole: Imidazole antifungal agent
- Interferes with ergosterol synthesis
- Alters the permeability of the cell membrane of sensitive fungi
- Hydrocortisone: Glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, antimycotic, and vasoconstrictive activity
DosageAndAdministration
Apply as a thin film 2-4 times daily for 1-2 weeks, continued at least one week after disappearance of all signs and symptoms
Interaction
Amphotericin antagonizes the activity of Miconazole
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the product or its components
- Pregnant or lactating women without physician's advice
SideEffects
- Rare local sensitivity
- Long term use may decrease production of natural hormones by the adrenal gland
