Description
Medikast 10 mg Tablet is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist. It is used for prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB), and relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR) such as seasonal & perennial allergic rhinitis.

Usability features

Pregnancy lactation
- Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed as safety in pregnant women has not been well-studied

Precautions warnings
- Not for use in acute asthma attacks: Appropriate rescue medication should be available
- Continued use during acute exacerbations of asthma: Dose of inhaled corticosteroid may be reduced gradually under medical supervision
- Not to be used as monotherapy for exercise-induced bronchospasm: Avoidance of aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents in patients with known aspirin sensitivity
- Clinical monitoring when potent cytochrome P450 enzyme inducers are co-administered: No dosage adjustment is recommended
