Description
Ezevent 10 mg Tablet is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist used for prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB), and relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR) including Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis.
Dosage
- Recommended dosage for adults and adolescents 15 years of age and older: Montelukast 10 mg tablet once daily
- Pediatric dosage: 5 mg for 6 to 14 years, 4 mg for 2 to 5 years, 4 mg oral granules for 6 months to 5 years

- Prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma
- Acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB)
- Symptoms relief of Allergic Rhinitis: Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis
Pharmacology
Montelukast is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist, inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1), and correlates with the pathophysiology of asthma and allergic rhinitis.
Interaction
- Ezevent has been administered with other therapies routinely used in the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma with no apparent increase in adverse reactions
- Clinical dose of Ezevent did not have clinically important effects on the pharmacokinetics of various drugs
Contraindications
Montelukast is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this product
SideEffects
- Common: Diarrhoea, fever, gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, nausea, vomiting, skin reactions, upper respiratory tract infection
- Uncommon: Akathisia, anxiety, arthralgia, asthenia, abnormal behavior, depression, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, haemorrhage, irritability, malaise, muscle complaints, oedema, seizure, abnormal sensation, sleep disorders
- Rare: Angioedema, concentration impaired, disorientation, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis, erythema nodosum, hallucination, hepatic disorders, memory loss, palpitations, pulmonary eosinophilia, suicidal tendencies, tremor
PregnancyAndLactation
Montelukast crosses the placenta in animals; caution should be exercised when given to pregnant or nursing mothers
PrecautionsAndWarnings
- Not indicated for the reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks
- Appropriate rescue medication should be available
- Should not be abruptly substituted for inhaled or oral corticosteroids
- Not to be used as monotherapy for the treatment of exercise-induced bronchospasm
- Caution for patients with known aspirin sensitivity
OverdoseEffects
Most frequently occurring adverse experiences are consistent with the safety profile of Ezevent and included abdominal pain, somnolence, thirst, headache, vomiting, and psychomotor hyperactivity
