Indications
- Acute bacterial sinusitis
- Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
- Community acquired pneumonia
- Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections
- Complicated skin and skin structure infections
- Complicated intra-abdominal infections
- Pelvic inflammatory disease
Pharmacology
- 4th generation synthetic broad spectrum
- Fluoroquinolone class of antibacterial drug
- Activity against gram-positive, gram-negative, anaerobic and atypical bacteria
Dosage & Administration
- 400 mg once daily for different durations based on the condition
Interaction
- Decreased absorption when administered with antacids, sucralfate, multivitamins
- May enhance the risk of convulsions with NSAIDs
- May enhance the risk of bleeding with warfarin
Contraindications
- History of hypersensitivity to Moxifloxacin or other quinolones

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended during pregnancy & lactation (US FDA pregnancy category C)
Precautions & Warnings
- Increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture
- Discontinue if pain or inflammation in a tendon occurs
- Not to be used in patients with known prolongation of the QT interval
- Not to be used in patients with uncorrected hypokalemia
- Not to be used in patients receiving Class IA or Class III antiarrhythmic agents
Use in Special Populations
- No dose adjustment necessary for renal or hepatic impaired patients
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients not established
