Indications

Pharmacology

  • Enzyme involved in partitioning of chromosomal DNA during bacterial cell division

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Moxifloxacin
  • Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to other quinolones
  • Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any components in the medication

Side Effects

  • Reported ocular adverse events: conjunctivitis, decreased visual acuity, dry eye, keratitis, ocular discomfort, ocular hyperemia, ocular pain, ocular pruritus, subconjunctival hemorrhage, tearing
  • Reported nonocular adverse events: fever, increased cough, infection, otitis media, pharyngitis, rash, rhinitis

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk to fetus
  • Caution in nursing mothers as excretion in human milk is presumed

Precautions & Warnings

  • Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms
  • Examination with the aid of magnification when clinical judgment dictates
  • Advice against wearing contact lenses if signs and symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis are present
