Indications

Interaction
- Diminishes antihypertensive effect of ACE inhibitors
- Delays absorption with antacids & sucralfate

Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Naproxen
- Asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Perioperative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery
Side Effects
- Gastrointestinal: Heartburn, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, dyspepsia
- Central Nervous System: Headache, vertigo, drowsiness
- Dermatological: Pruritus (itching), purpura
- Cardiovascular: Edema, palpitation
- Others: Visual disturbances, hearing disturbances
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Adverse effects on fetus
- Delay in parturition
- Premature closure of ductus arteriosus and severe pulmonary hypertension in infants
- Excretion in breast milk
- Balancing benefits to mother against risks to fetus
- Small amounts in breast milk, cautious balancing of benefits and risks
Precautions & Warnings
- Renal effects: Reports of renal papillary necrosis and abnormal renal pathology
- Acute interstitial nephritis, hematuria, proteinuria, nephrotic syndrome
- Eliminated primarily by the kidneys, caution in impaired renal function
- Monitoring of serum creatinine and/or creatinine clearance recommended
- Hepatic effects: Moderate to severe jaundice reported
