Description
- Loramide is indicated for acute and chronic diarrhea, abdominal cramps associated with diarrhea, Crohn's disease, postgastric surgery, and ulcerative colitis. It inhibits peristaltic activity in the intestines and increases the tone of the anal sphincter. Dosage varies for adults and children based on the severity of the condition. It is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to the drug and in patients who must avoid constipation. Precaution must be taken when used in cases of severe hepatic disturbance. Overdose may result in constipation, CNS depression, and nausea. Storage should be in a cool and dry place protected from light.
