Norgest 0.03 mg+0.15 mg+75 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Inhibit Ovulation
• Inhibit sperm to enter into the uterus by condensing uterine mucus
• Inhibit fertilized egg to accept by uterus by protecting the growth of membrane inside the uterus
• Reduces the movement of sperm by minimizing normal movement of fallopian tube

Suitable for

• Women aged between 15-69 years (except smoker and who use tobacco regularly)
• Women who want an effective, temporary contraceptive method
• Women who are suffering from anemia due to excessive blood loss during menstruation
• Women having irregular menstruation cycle
• Breastfeeding mother (if child age is more than 6 months)

Composition

• Ethinylestradiol USP 0.03 mg
• Levonorgestrel USP 0.15 mg
• Ferrous Fumarate BP 75 mg

Pharmacology

• Contains Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol
• Suppresses ovulation
• Inhibits sperm penetration with cervical mucus changes
• Reduces likelihood of implantation with endometrial changes

Dosage & Administration

• Start from the first day of menstruation
• Take one tablet same time each day with food
• Start with one white tablet each day for 3 weeks, then one brown color tablet each day for 7 days
• Take precautions if forget to take a tablet for a day

Interaction

• Enzyme inducers may decrease effectiveness
• Counsel patients to use a back-up method or alternative contraception when using with certain drugs or herbal products
• Avoid caffeine, dairy foods, and phytic acid-containing food while taking the drug

Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to any of the components of this product

Side Effects

• Common: Headache, nausea, mood changes, irregular vaginal bleeding, pain and discomfort
• Rare: liver tumors, jaundice, high blood pressure, gallbladder problems

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Contraindicated in pregnancy
• Discontinue if pregnancy occurs
• Can reduce milk production in breastfeeding females

Precautions & Warnings

• Stops pill if a thrombotic disorder occurs
• Discontinue if jaundice occurs
• Monitor blood pressure for women with hypertension

Use in Special Populations

• Safety and efficacy established in women of reproductive age

Overdose Effects

• Overdosage may cause withdrawal bleeding in females and nausea
