Bacteriostatic broad-spectrum antibiotic

Pharmacology

Inhibition of cell growth through protein synthesis inhibition

Dosage & Administration

Adult dosage: 250-500 mg every 6 hours; should be taken one hour before or two hours after meals

Interaction

  • Antacids containing Aluminium, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc or Iron salts
  • Concomitant anticoagulants
  • Oral contraceptives

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Tetracyclines
  • Children under 12 years of age
  • Pregnant women

Pregnancy & Lactation
