Description
- Panfast is a proton pump inhibitor used for the treatment of peptic ulcer diseases, gastroesophageal reflux disease, ulcers induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), eradication of Helicobacter pylori, and Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.

Pharmacology
- Suppresses the final step in gastric acid production by covalently binding to the H+/K+ATPase enzyme system at the surface of the gastric parietal cell. Inhibits both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion.
Interaction
- No significant drug interactions observed in clinical studies
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formulation
Side effects
- Common: Headache, diarrhea; Rare: Abdominal pain, flatulence, rash, insomnia, hyperglycemia
Pregnancy category
- US FDA Category B
- Not adequately studied in pregnant women, use only if clearly needed
Precautions warnings
- Tablet should not be split, chewed, or crushed
- Long-term therapy may lead to malabsorption of cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) or increase risk of osteoporosis related disorders
Overdose effects
- No known symptoms of overdosage in humans
- Highly protein bound, not readily dialyzable

- Directions for IV injection and IV infusion
- Reconstituted solution may be stored at room temperature for a maximum of 4 hours before further dilution
