Dosage & Administration
- Tablet for adults: 1-2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours up to a maximum of 4 gm (8 tablets) daily
- Tablet for children (6-12 years): ½ to 1 tablet 3 to 4 times daily
- Extended Release Tablet for adults & children over 12 years: Two tablets every 6 to 8 hours (maximum of 6 tablets in 24 hours)
- Syrup/Suspension dosage based on age group
- Suppository dosage based on age group
- Special Paracetamol tablet with actizorb technology dosage for adults and children
- Paracetamol tablet with actizorb technology: 1-2 Tablets every four to six hours for adults and children (aged 12 years and over)
- Paracetamol tablet with actizorb technology: ½-1 Tablet every four to six hours for children (7 to 11 years)
Interaction
- Diminished ability to metabolize with barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, and alcohol
- Increased hepatotoxicity with alcohol in Temnor overdosage
- Chronic ingestion of anticonvulsants or oral steroid contraceptives induce liver enzymes
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol
Side Effects
- Mild side effects
- Haematological reactions including thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, and agranulocytosis
- Pancreatitis
- Skin rashes
- Other allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No ill effects in human pregnancy for recommended dosage
- Excretion in breast milk not in a clinically significant amount
Precautions & Warnings
- Care advised in administration to patients with severe renal or severe hepatic impairment
- Greater hazard of overdose in those with non-cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease
- Advised not to exceed the stated dose
Overdose Effects
- Liver damage possible in adults with 10 g or more of Temnor
- Symptoms of Temnor overdose in the first 24 hours: pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, and abdominal pain
- Liver damage may become apparent 12 to 48 hours after ingestion
