Indications
- Treatment of diarrhea caused by Cryptosporidium parvum
- Treatment of diarrhea caused by Giardia lamblia
- Treatment of diarrhea caused by Entamoeba histolytica
Pharmacology
- Synthetic antiprotozoal agent
- Oral administration
- Interference with Pyruvate Ferredoxin Oxido Reductase (PFOR) enzyme
- Inhibition of the growth of sporozoites and oocyst of Cryptosporidium parvum
- Inhibition of trophozoites of Giardia lamblia
Dosage & Administration
- Age 1-3 years: 5 ml suspension every 12 hours for 3 days
- Age 4-11 years: 10 ml suspension every 12 hours for 3 days
- Age 12 years or above: 25 ml suspension or 1 tablet every 12 hours for 3 days
- Recommended to be administered with food
Interaction
- Highly bound to plasma protein
- Caution when administering concurrently with other highly plasma protein-bound drugs

- Known hypersensitivity to Nitazoxanide or any components of the preparation
