Indications

  • Management of moderate to moderately severe pain in adults
  • Short-term (five days or less) management of acute pain

Pharmacology

  • Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic properties with weak anti-inflammatory activity
  • Tramadol is a centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic with dual mechanisms of action

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended dose of 1 or 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours for moderate to moderately severe pain
  • Recommended dose of 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours for short-term (five days or less) management of acute pain

Contraindications

  • Not to be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to tramadol, paracetamol, or opioids
  • Contraindicated in situations where opioids are contraindicated

Side Effects

  • Adverse reactions may include asthenia, fatigue, dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, constipation, anxiety, insomnia, pruritus, rash, increased sweating, etc.

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Pregnancy Category C
  • Not recommended for obstetrical preoperative medication or post-delivery analgesia in nursing mothers

Precautions & Warnings

  • May impair mental or physical abilities required for hazardous tasks
  • Should not be taken with alcohol
  • Avoid combination with other tramadol or paracetamol-containing products
  • Use with caution when taking certain medications

Use in Special Populations

  • Safety and effectiveness not studied in pediatric population
  • Dose selection for elderly patients should be cautious
  • Not studied in patients with impaired renal function or hepatic function
