Indications
- Treatment of hypertension

Pharmacology
- Decrease in total peripheral vascular resistance
- Selective inhibition of alpha-1-adrenoreceptors

Interaction

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity to quinazolines
Side Effects
- Common reactions include dizziness, headache, drowsiness

- Rare reactions like liver function abnormalities, orthostatic hypotension
- Association with worsening of pre-existing narcolepsy

Use in Special Populations

- Not recommended in left ventricular failure due to mechanical obstruction
Overdose Effects
- Accidental ingestion of at least 50 mg in a child resulted in profound drowsiness
- Support of the cardiovascular system is of first importance in case of hypotension
