Indications

Pharmacology
- Contains antitussive agent
- Contains decongestant agent
- Contains antihistamine agent
- Dextromethorphan has central action on cough center
- Phenylephrine shrinks blood vessels in nasal passage
- Triprolidine provides relief from histamine-triggered conditions
- Dextromethorphan is non-narcotic
- Dextromethorphan has little sedative activity
Dosage
- 1 teaspoonful (5 ml) every 4 hours for adults & children 12+
- ½ teaspoonful (2.5 ml) every 4 hours for children 6 to under 12
- Caution for children 2 to 6 years
- Not for children below 2 years
Administration
- Can be taken with or without food
- Recommended to take with food if it causes upset stomach
- Liquid doses should be carefully measured
- Use the provided measuring device

- Serious drug interaction with certain MAO inhibitors
- Avoid concurrent use with certain MAO inhibitors
- Exercise caution with antihistamines applied to the skin

Contraindications
- Avoid in patients with liver disease

- Contraindicated during acute asthma attacks
- Avoid in patients with severe hypertension

Overdose Effects
- Hospital admission strongly advised in cases of overdose
- Overdose may produce respiratory depression
- Overdose may produce paranoid psychosis

- Treatment may include emptying the stomach by aspiration or gastric lavage
- Nervous stimulation and convulsions should be treated with a sedative
- Severe overdose may produce hypertension
- Severe overdose may produce associated reflex bradycardia
- Treatment measures may include early gastric lavage
- Treatment measures may include symptomatic and supportive measures
- Hypertensive effects may be treated with an alpha-receptor blocking agent
