Description

Xorel Gastro-resistant tablets are used for the treatment of active duodenal ulcer, active benign gastric ulcer, symptomatic erosive or ulcerative gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease Long-term Management (GERD Maintenance), symptomatic treatment of moderate to very severe gastro-esophageal reflux disease (symptomatic GERD), Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, in combination with appropriate antibacterial therapeutic regimens for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in patients with peptic ulcer disease.

Dosage recommendation

20 mg for active duodenal ulcer and active benign gastric ulcer once daily in the morning
20 mg for erosive or ulcerative GERD once daily for four to eight weeks
10 mg for symptomatic treatment of moderate to very severe GERD once daily
60-120 mg for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome once daily or in divided doses
20 mg rabeprazole sodium twice daily for H. pylori eradication

Administration instructions

Take in the morning before eating, do not chew or crush, swallow whole

Pharmacology

Suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the gastric H+/K+-ATPase at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell

Interaction

May interact with compounds whose absorption is pH dependent
Co-administration with ketoconazole or itraconazole may decrease antifungal plasma levels
No interaction with liquid antacids observed
Not recommended for co-administration with atazanavir
