Indications
- Treatment of active duodenal ulcer

Pharmacology
- Suppression of gastric acid secretion
- Inhibition of the gastric H+/K+-ATPase at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell
- Characterized as a gastric proton-pump inhibitor
Dosage
- Recommended oral doses for active duodenal ulcer and active benign gastric ulcer
- Recommended oral dose for erosive or ulcerative gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Recommended oral dose for GERD maintenance
- Symptomatic treatment of moderate to very severe gastro-esophageal reflux disease (symptomatic GERD)

Administration
- Recommended time for taking the tablets
- Instruction to swallow whole without chewing or crushing
Interaction
- Potential interaction with compounds dependent on pH for absorption
- Potential interaction with ketoconazole or itraconazole
- No interaction with liquid antacids observed
- Absorption of atazanavir is pH-dependent; caution advised in co-administration
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients
- Contraindicated in pregnancy and during breastfeeding
