Pharmacology
- Competitive blocking of histamine at H2-receptors
- Inhibition of gastric acid secretion
- No effect on pepsin secretion, pentagastrin-stimulated intrinsic factor secretion or serum gastrin
Interaction
- Delayed absorption and increased peak serum concentration with propantheline bromide
- Minimal inhibition of hepatic metabolism of certain drugs
- Alteration of absorption of pH-dependent drugs
- Reduced bioavailability with antacids
