Description
- Corvastin is indicated for primary hyperlipidemia, mixed dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceredemia, dysbetalipoproteinemia, homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis progression, pediatric familial hypercholesterolemia, risk reduction of myocardial infarction, stroke, arterial revascularization procedures, and slowing the progression of atherosclerosis.
- Rosuvastatin is a selective and competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, increasing the number of hepatic LDL receptors, and inhibiting hepatic synthesis of VLDL.
- Dosage & Administration includes specific dose ranges for pediatric patients, patients with high cholesterol and high risk of MI/stroke, homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, Asian patients, use with cyclosporine, lopinavir/ritonavir or atazanavir/ritonavir, concomitant lipid-lowering therapy, and patients with severe renal impairment.
- Remarkable drug interactions include cyclosporine, gemfibrosil, lopinavir/ritonavir or atazanavir/ritonavir, and coumarin anticoagulants.
- Contraindications are known hypersensitivity to product components, liver disease, pregnancy, and nursing mothers.
