Description
Cholcut 10 mg Tablet is indicated for primary hyperlipidemia, mixed dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, dysbetalipoproteinemia, familial hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis, and risk reduction of Myocardial Infarction and stroke. It is also used in pediatric patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. The pharmacology involves inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase to reduce cholesterol. Dosage and administration vary for different conditions and patient populations. The drug interacts with cyclosporine, gemfibrosil, lopinavir/ritonavir, atazanavir/ritonavir, and coumarin anticoagulants. Contraindications include known hypersensitivity, liver disease, pregnancy, and lactation. Common side effects include headache, myalgia, constipation, asthenia, abdominal pain, and nausea. It should be used with caution in patients with predisposing factors for myopathy. Storage conditions require it to be kept below 30°C and protected from light and moisture.
