Pharmacology

Sertraline has potent and selective inhibitory action on CNS neuronal reuptake of 5-HT resulting in increased 5-HT concentrations at the synaptic clefts

Dosage & Administration

  • Adults - Starting Dose: 50 mg
  • Adults - Therapeutic Range: 50-200 mg
  • Pediatric Patients (ages 6-12 years old) - Starting Dose: 25 mg
  • Pediatric Patients (ages 6-12 years old) - Therapeutic Range: 50-200 mg
  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) - Starting dosage: 50 mg/day
  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) - Continuous Dosage: Up to 150 mg per day
  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) - Intermittent Dosage: Up to 100 mg per day

Potential effects of co-administration of drugs that are highly bound to plasma proteins

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Sertraline or any of the excipients of drug
