Indications

Description
- Selective inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5)
- Produces increased levels of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum
Pharmacology
- Mechanism of erection involving release of nitric oxide
- Metabolized by hepatic metabolism
- Rapidly absorbed after oral administration
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose of 50 mg for erectile dysfunction
- Recommended dose of 20 mg three times a day for pulmonary arterial hypertension
- Potential factors associated with increased plasma levels
Interaction
- Metabolism mediated by cytochrome P450 isoforms 3A4 and 2C9
- Inhibitors of these isoenzymes may reduce clearance
- Inducers of these isoenzymes may increase clearance
