Indications

Dosage & Administration

  • Cleansing of burn wounds before application
  • Application of Silver Sulfadiazine over burn wound
  • Covering burn areas with Silver Sulfadiazine at all times
  • Application once to twice daily with specified thickness
  • Reapplication to removed areas
  • Use of dressings if necessary
  • Reapplication after hydrotherapy
  • Continued treatment until satisfactory healing or grafting readiness
  • No withdrawal from therapeutic regimen in case of infection possibility

Interaction

  • Inactivation of enzymatic debriding agents
  • Potentiation of oral hypoglycemic agents and phenytoin
  • Increased incidence of leukopenia with cimetidine co-administration

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to ingredients
  • Pregnant women approaching or at term
  • Premature infants
  • Newborn infants during the first 2 months of life
