Indications
- Treatment of acid reflux symptoms
- Heartburn relief
- Indigestion relief
- Relief after gastric surgery
- Relief during pregnancy
- Treatment of reflux esophagitis
- Relief of laryngopharyngeal reflux symptoms
Pharmacology
- Combination of Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate
- Forms a gel in stomach
- Forms a raft on top of stomach contents
- Prevents acid reflux into the esophagus
- Lasts up to 4 hours in stomach
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 1-2 tablets 3-4 times daily
- Children dosage: ½-1 tablet 3-4 times daily
- Suspension dosage for adults and children above 12 years
- Not recommended for children under 2 years
- No dose modifications for elderly
- Caution for use in patients with highly restricted salt diet
- Caution for use in patients with renal impairment
Interaction
- Time interval of 2 hours recommended between intake and other medicinal products
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate
Side Effects
- Possible side effects: nausea, constipation, diarrhea, headache
- Possibility of sensation of swelling with large doses
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Can be used during pregnancy if clinically needed
- No known effect on breast-fed infants
- Can be used during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings
- Prescribed with caution in patients with renal impairment and congestive cardiac failure
- Care needed in treating patients with hypercalcemia and nephrocalcinosis
- Possibility of reduced efficacy in patients with very low levels of gastric acid
- Clinical review if symptoms do not improve after seven days

- Overdosage is a rare case
