Indications

Composition

Pharmacology

  • Anti-epileptic activity against various seizures
  • Increase brain levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)

Dosage & Administration

  • Oral administration once or twice daily
  • Initial dosage for adults 600 mg daily
  • Maintenance dosage for adults 1-2 g daily
  • Dosage for children based on weight
  • Injection for adults with specific dosage

Interaction

  • Non-specific inhibitor of drug metabolism
  • Significant interactions with Phenobarbital, Phenytoin, Warfarin, Aspirin

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to the drug
  • Liver dysfunction
  • Pregnancy and women of childbearing potential
