Interaction

  • Decreased hypotensive effects with prostaglandin synthase inhibiting drugs
  • More severe allergic reaction with history of anaphylaxis
  • Increased risk of bradycardia with concomitant use of digitalis glycosides

Contraindications

  • Sinus bradycardia
  • Heart block greater than first degree
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • Overt cardiac failure
  • Hypersensitivity to atenolol or any of the drug product’s components
