Indications

Pharmacology
Selective phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. Increases cGMP in smooth muscle cells, leading to smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow into the corpus cavernosum. Also relaxes smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder.
Dosage & Administration
- Erectile Dysfunction:
- Recommended starting dose: 10 mg
- Maximum dosing frequency: once daily
- Effective for up to 36 hours
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: Recommended dose: 5 mg taken at the same time every day
- Combined Erectile Dysfunction and BPH: Recommended dose: 5 mg at the same time every day
Interaction
May interact with Nitrates, Alpha adrenergic blockers, Antihypertensives, Alcohol, Antacids, Ketoconazole, Ritonavir, Erythromycin, Itraconazole, Grapefruit juice, Rifampin, Carbamazepine, Phenytoin & Phenobarbital
