Indications
- Treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail due to dermatophytes
- Tinea Capitis
- Fungal infection of the skin caused by Trichophyton
- Fungal infection of the skin caused by Microsporum canis
- Yeast infections of the skin caused by genus Candida
- Pityriasis (tinea) versicolor
- Treatment of tinea infections of the skin
Pharmacology
- Inhibits biosynthesis of Ergosterol
- Fungal cell death
- Inhibition of Squalene Epoxidase enzyme
Dosage & Administration
- For the treatment of fingernail onychomycosis: Terbinafine 250 mg, once daily for 6 weeks
- For the treatment of toenail onychomycosis: Terbinafine 250 mg, once daily for 12 weeks
- Terbinafine cream can be applied once or twice daily
- Cleanse and dry affected areas thoroughly before application of the terbinafine cream
Interaction
- Inhibitor of the CYP450 2D6 isozyme
Contraindications
- Contra-indicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to terbinafine

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended during pregnancy
- Not recommended in nursing mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- Discontinue if there is biochemical or clinical evidence of liver injury
- Skinabin cream is for external use only
- Not recommended for patients with chronic or active liver disease
Use in Special Populations
- The safety and efficacy of terbinafine have not been established in pediatric patients
- No evidence to suggest that elderly patients require different dosages
Overdose Effects
- Symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, rash, frequent urination, and headache
