Indications
- Reduces muscle spasm of the intestine, biliary system, bladder, and uterus
Pharmacology
- Competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine and Histamine
- Inhibits intracellular contractile protein of visceral cells
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls syrup daily in divided doses
- Children dose: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- 1 Tiemonium Methylsulphate Injection 3 times daily through Intravenous or Intramuscular route
- 20 mg Tiemonium Methylsulphate suppository two or three times daily through rectal route
Interaction
- Avoid concurrent use with other drugs without physician consultation
Contraindications
- Not to be used in urethroprostatic disorder with urine retention risk
- Contraindicated in patients at risk of angle closure glaucoma
Side Effects
- Possible risk of hypotension and tachycardia in certain individuals
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No teratogenic effects reported in animal studies
- Caution advised for nursing mothers in absence of sufficient data
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients with prostate disorders, chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, hyperthermia, renal & hepatic insufficiency
