Description
- Reduces muscles spasm of the intestine, biliary system, bladder and uterus
- Treatment of pain related to functional disorders of the digestive tract and biliary system
- Treatment of spasm and pain in urological and gynaecological diseases
Dosage and Administration
- Usual adult dose: 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls syrup daily in divided doses
- Children's dose: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- Injection dose: 1 Tiemonium Methylsulphate Injection 3 times daily
- Suppository dose: 20 mg Tiemonium Methylsulphate suppository two or three times daily
Mode of Action
- Competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine and Histamine
- Strengthens calcium bond with membrane phospholipids and proteins
- Inhibits intracellular contractile protein of visceral cell causing inhibition of visceral spasm and pain
Interaction
- Should not be used with other drugs without prior consult of a registered physician
Contraindications
- Avoid in urethroprostatic disorder involving a risk of urine retention
- Contraindicated in patients having risk of angle closure glaucoma
Side Effects
- Risk of hypotension and tachycardia in certain individuals
Pregnancy and Lactation
- Results of animal studies did not reveal any teratogenic effects
- Prudence should be the rule for nursing mothers
Precautions and Warnings
- Caution in treatment of patients with disorders of the prostate
- Caution in case of chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia
- Caution in renal and hepatic insufficiency

- Geriatric use: Efficacy and safety were maintained with increasing age
