Indications
- Reduces muscle spasm of the intestine, biliary system, bladder, and uterus
- Used for symptomatic treatment of pain related to digestive tract and biliary system disorders
- Indicated for spasm and pain in urological and gynaecological diseases
Pharmacology
- Competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine and Histamine
- Strengthens calcium bond with membrane phospholipids and proteins
- Inhibits intracellular contractile protein of visceral cell
Dosage & Administration
- Usual adult dose: 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls syrup daily in divided doses
- Usual children dose: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- Injection: 1 Tiemonium Methylsulphate Injection 3 times daily, through Intravenous route or Intramuscular route
- Suppository: 20 mg Tiemonium Methylsulphate suppository two or three times daily, through rectal route
Interaction
- Should not be used with other drugs without prior consultation with a registered physician to avoid possible drug interactions
Contraindications
- Should not be used in urethroprostatic disorder involving a risk of urine retention
- Contraindicated in patients having risk of angle closure glaucoma
Side Effects
- May pose risk of hypotension and tachycardia in certain individuals
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Results of animal studies did not reveal teratogenic effects
- Caution advised for nursing mothers due to insufficient data
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution should be taken during treatment of patients with disorders of the prostate
- Caution should be taken in case of chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia, renal & hepatic insufficiency
- Risks of visual disturbances can affect driving or machine operation
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness in paediatric patients not established
- Efficacy and safety maintained with increasing age in geriatric use
