Indications
- Treatment of fungal infections of skin
- Treatment of erythrasma
- Treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis
Pharmacology
- Tioconazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent
- Exhibits fungicidal activity against Candida albicans and other species of the genus Candida
Dosage & Administration
- Ointment: Effective as a single-dose treatment for vulvovaginal candidiasis
- Cream: Treatment may be once or twice daily
- Suppository: One 300 mg suppository intravaginally as a single dose
Interaction
- Hypersensitivity to Cyclosporine or to any of the excipients of Cyclosporine
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in individuals sensitive to imidazole antifungal agents or other components of the ointment

- Vulvar edema and swelling
- Vaginal pain
- Dysuria
- Nocturia
- Dyspareunia
- Dryness of vaginal secretions
- Desquamation
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy category C
- Should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus
- Not known if excreted in human milk
- Nursing should be temporarily discontinued while Tioconazole is administered
Precautions & Warnings
- Intended for intravaginal administration only
- Ointment base may interact with rubber or latex products such as condoms
- Use of rubber or latex products within 72 hours following treatment is not recommended
