Indications

Description
- Preservative-free
- Sterile eye drops
- OSD (Ophthalmic squeeze dispenser)
Pharmacology
- Travoprost as an isopropyl ester prodrug
- Synthetic prostaglandin F2 alpha analogue
- Rapid hydrolysis by esterases in the cornea
- Potent and highly selective for the FP prostanoid receptor
- Selective FP prostanoid receptor agonist
- Believed to reduce intraocular pressure
- Increase drainage of aqueous humor
- Primarily through increased uveoscleral outflow
- To a lesser extent, trabecular outflow facility
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose for adults: one drop once daily in the evening
- Administer at least 5 minutes apart if using multiple ophthalmic products
- Discontinuation process when substituting another ophthalmic antiglaucoma agent with Travoprost
- Efficacy and safety not established in pediatric patients
Interaction
- Reduced therapeutic effect with NSAIDs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to travoprost or any excipients
Side Effects
- Ocular hyperaemia
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No well-controlled clinical studies in pregnant women
- Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
- Unknown excretion of the drug or its metabolites in human milk
- Caution when administered to a lactating woman
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with active intraocular inflammation
- Do not administer while wearing contact lenses
- Contact lenses should be removed prior to the administration of the solution
- Lenses may be reinserted 15 minutes following administration of Travagen Z
