Indications

Symptomatic treatment of stable angina pectoris in adults
Add-on therapy for inadequate control of angina pectoris
Treatment for angina pectoris in patients intolerant to first-line antianginal therapies

Pharmacology

Trimetazidine Dihydrochloride as 3-keto acyl CoA thiolase inhibitor (KAT)
Metabolic anti-ischemic agent
Inhibition of fatty acid pathway
Transfer of oxygen to glucose pathway
Increase in energy production in the heart
Aerobic oxidation of glucose to prevent lactic acid production

Dosage & Administration

Recommended dose: 35 mg twice daily or 20 mg thrice daily during meals
Assessment of treatment benefit after three months
Discontinuation if no treatment response

Interaction

No reported drug interactions
No interactions with beta-blockers, calcium antagonists, nitrates, heparin, hypolipidemic agents or digitalis preparation

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients
Parkinson's disease or symptoms
Tremors, restless legs movement disorders
Severe renal impairment
