Indications

  • Symptomatic treatment of stable angina pectoris
  • Add-on therapy for inadequately controlled angina pectoris
  • Treatment for patients intolerant to first-line antianginal therapies

Pharmacology

  • Trimetazidine Dihydrochloride as 3- keto acyl CoA thiolase inhibitor
  • Metabolic anti-ischemic agent
  • Inhibition of fatty acid pathway
  • Enhanced efficiency of glucose pathway for energy production
  • Prevention of lactic acid production

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended dose of Trimetazidine as 35 mg twice daily or 20 mg thrice daily during meals
  • Assessment of treatment benefit after three months
  • Discontinuation if no treatment response

  • No reported drug interactions with calcium antagonists
  • No reported drug interactions with nitrates
  • No reported drug interactions with heparin
  • No reported drug interactions with hypolipidemic agents

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to active substance or excipients
  • Patients with Parkinson's disease
  • Patients with parkinsonian symptoms
  • Patients with tremors
  • Patients with restless legs movement disorders
  • Patients with severe renal impairment

Pregnancy & Lactation
