Indications

Treatment of hypertension

Pharmacology

Valsartan is an angiotensin II antagonist
Oral medication
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic
Reduces plasma volume
Increases plasma renin activity
Reduces potassium levels
Does not affect pulse rate

Dosage & Administration

Combined once daily dosing
Maximum allowed dose of Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide combination
No initial dosage adjustment for elderly patients
