Interaction
- Low potential for drug interactions
- No CYP 450 enzyme interaction
- No interaction with other antidiabetic drugs or commonly used medications
- Increased Cmax and blood AUC of Metformin with certain medications
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Vildagliptin or Metformin
- Renal disease or dysfunction
- Acute myocardial infarction
- Septicaemia
- Congestive heart failure
- Metabolic acidosis
- Radiologic studies involving iodinated contrast materials

- Headache
- Tremor
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Hypoglycemia
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended during pregnancy
- No adequate studies in pregnant women
- Should not be administered to breastfeeding women
Precautions & Warnings
- Risk of lactic acidosis
- Monitoring serum creatinine levels
- Special caution in elderly patients
- Liver Function Tests monitoring
- Discontinuation before elective surgery with general anesthesia
Use in Special Populations
- Not recommended for children below 18 years
- Renal function monitoring in elderly patients
- Not recommended in patients with renal or hepatic impairment
