Description

Albazol DS is a benzimidazole anthelmintic, exhibiting vermicidal, ovicidal, and larvicidal activity. It inhibits tubulin polymerization, leading to the loss of cytoplasmic microtubules.

Pharmacology

Albendazole is a broad spectrum anthelmintic that blocks glucose uptake in susceptible helminths, depleting their energy level. It exerts its effect by binding and inhibiting parasite tubulin polymerization.

Dosage & Administration

400 mg single dose for certain infestations
200 mg single dose for children aged 1-2 years
Not recommended for children under 1 year
Specific dosages for hydatid disease
Specific dosage for giardiasis

Contraindications

Not normally used in neonates
Reduced dose for children weighing less than 10 kg
