Description
TCL-R 40 mg Tablet is a selective inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase used to reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B (Apo-B), and triglycerides levels in various diseases when response to diet and other non-pharmacological measures is inadequate.

Reduction of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol

Liver function tests should be performed before the initiation of treatment and periodically thereafter

- Antacid: Plasma concentrations of atorvastatin decreased approximately 35%

Contraindications

Use in Special Populations
- Geriatric: Plasma concentrations of TCL-R are higher in healthy elderly subjects
- Pediatric: Pharmacokinetic data in the pediatric population are not available
- Gender: No clinically significant difference in LDL-C reduction with TCL-R between men and women
- Renal Insufficiency: No influence on the plasma concentrations or LDL-C reduction of TCL-R in patients with renal dysfunction
- Hemodialysis: Not expected to significantly enhance clearance of TCL-R
- Hepatic Insufficiency: Plasma concentrations of TCL-R are markedly increased in patients with chronic alcoholic liver disease
