- Indications:
- Lower respiratory tract infections
- Upper respiratory tract infections
- Otitis media
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Non-gonococcal urethritis
- Cervicitis
- Pharmacology:
- Orally administered
- Rapid absorption
- High concentration in phagocytes
- Long half-life
- Active against various microorganisms
- Dosage:
- 500 mg for adults
- 250 mg for children
- 500 mg for pelvic inflammatory disease
- Oral or IV administration
- Administration:
- Oral suspension reconstitution procedure
- Take at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal
- Interaction:
- Antacid interaction
- Cyclosporine interaction
- Digoxin interaction
- Ergot derivatives contraindication
- No effect on theophylline levels
- No alteration of warfarin anticoagulant effect
- Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Azithromycin or macrolide antibiotics
