Relitch 0.05%+0.1%+2.5% (Rectal Ointment)

Indications

• Relief of symptoms of itching
• Relief of symptoms of irritation
• Relief of symptoms of discomfort or pain associated with non-infective anal or peri-anal conditions
• Relief of symptoms of external hemorrhoids

Composition

• Betamethasone (as 17 valerate) 0.05%
• Phenylephrine hydrochloride 0.1%
• Lignocaine hydrochloride 2.5%

Pharmacology

• Corticosteroid activity of Betamethasone
• Alpha-adrenergic receptor effects of Phenylephrine
• Neuronal signal conduction alteration by Lidocaine

Dosage & Administration

• Limited course of treatment to 7 days
• Apply small amount of ointment two or three times a day initially
• Once-daily application when inflammation subsides
• Internal administration using applicator if required

Contraindications

• Primary cutaneous viral infections
• Hypersensitivity to any components of the drug
• Not indicated for primarily infected skin lesions caused by fungi or bacteria

Side Effects

• Signs of hypersensitivity
• Local atrophic changes in the skin with prolonged and intensive treatment

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Inadequate evidence of safety in human pregnancy

Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid long-term continuous therapy, especially in infants and children due to risk of adrenal suppression
