Indications
- Treatment of infections caused by sensitive bacteria
- Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes
- Acute Bacterial Otitis Media caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis
- Acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae
- Lower respiratory tract infections including pneumoniae
- Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
- Skin and skin-structure infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus
- Urinary tract infections caused by E.coli or Klebsiella pneumoniae
- Bone and Joint Infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus
- Gonorrhoea caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae
- Early Lyme Disease (erythema migrans) caused by Borrelia burgdorferi
Pharmacology
- Well-characterized and effective antibacterial agent
- Broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against a wide range of common pathogens
- Good stability to bacterial β-lactamase
Dosage
- Dosage for adolescents and adults (13 years and older)
- Dosage for paediatric patients (3 months to 12 years)
- Dosage for parenteral administration in adults, children, and neonates
- Specific dosage for various infections including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and gonorrhoea
Administration
Use of freshly reconstituted solution recommended; maintains potency for at least 24 hours at room temperature

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to Cephalosporins
Side Effects
- Adverse effects occurred infrequently
- Mild and transient effects such as rashes and gastrointestinal disturbances
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non susceptible organisms

US FDA pregnancy category - B; caution should be exercised in nursing women
Precautions & Warnings
- Given with care to patients receiving concurrent treatment with potent diuretics
- Caution for patients with history of colitis
