Indications
- Treats infections caused by sensitive bacteria
- Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes

Pharmacology
- Broad-spectrum bactericidal activity
- Effective against β-lactamase producing strains

Dosage

- Different dosages for parenteral administration in adults, children, and neonates
Administration
- Freshly reconstituted solution recommended
- Maintains potency for at least 24 hours at room temperature

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to Cephalosporins

- Adverse effects have occurred infrequently

- Prolonged use may result in the overgrowth of non susceptible organisms

- Limited studies in pregnant women
- Drug excreted in human milk

Precautions & Warnings
- Given with care to patients receiving concurrent treatment with potent diuretics
- Allergic reactions may occur in patients hypersensitive to penicillin
